Forty Acres and a Mule-Redux
Following the American Civil War many a "carpetbagger" came South to make their riches off the newly conquered Southerners. Many bought up land cheaply, as it had been confiscated for lack of tax payment during the war years. Some of these politicians bought up this inexpensive land and used it to bribe newly emancipated slaves. The famous line we remember from that period today is "vote for me and I will give you forty acres and a mule." It worked and has sadly been repeated many times since then under different names and government programs, all aimed at buying your vote.
Since those days, politicians have been attempting to bribe people in a number of different ways. The Democrats used the "Great Society" in the 1960's under Lyndon Johnson to bribe the poor to vote for them. Vote for me and I will send you money via welfare. Unfortunately, for many years the poor and ignorant bought into this and have been kept on the Liberal Plantation via these outright bribes for votes. The liberals can couch these bribes in whatever terms they like--helping the poor and needy, or doing it "for the children." Lord knows everything we do today is for the children. But it boils down to taking your money for their purposes. The liberals are very generous with other people's money.
Hillary Clinton herself is the classic carpetbagger. A native of the suburbs of Chicago, she had no roots to New York. But following in the tradition of the late carpetbagger Senator Robert Kennedy, she knew she could use her celebrity and liberal platform to conquer a New York Senate seat. As usual, the liberals of New York could be counted on to put someone with no roots to their state in high office. So we should not be surprised that Hillary is offering bribes in the fine tradition of the carpetbaggers. One twist to the method though, the carpetbaggers of old bought the land they used for bribes with their own money. Hillary intends to use yours.
We should not be surprised that she intends to use our money for her plans. Early in the year, she talked about how she wanted to take profits from the oil companies to use for alternative energy programs, as though the money was simply hers to take. You see, she, student of Marx that she is, has no respect for personal property rights. What you own, you only own because the benevolent Federal Government is kind enough to let you keep a bit of what you make. So with this in mind it came as no surprise that she suggested a huge new entitlement at the end of September. She wanted the Government to give each newborn child a $5000 bond. However, the child would only get the money when they reached the age of 18 and if they used it for one of a few different things the Government had approved, like going to college or buying a home. How was she going to pay for this new entitlement? Taxing the rich, of course. However, within days of floating this idea, she abandoned it due to all the criticism she got. Everyone saw it for the half-baked idea that it was, costing billions, if not trillions, of dollars.
Around October 8th I heard she had a new scheme for a new retirement program run by Uncle Sam. You would spend your life contributing to this and when you retire, this "Universal 401K" would give you back so much. If your family makes less than $60,000 a year, you would get $1000 for each contribution of $1000. If you and your spouse made more than $60,000, then the Government would put in $500 for your contribution of $1000. If your household makes more than $100,000 a year, forget it, you are going to be paying for this new program. She claims only estate taxes will be raised, but if you believe that, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you.
I found this proposal interesting. First, this is a roundabout admission that the Government Ponzi scheme known as Social Security is a failure. However, for the woman who said "Privatization is not the answer to anything," she has to be evasive in her confession. Second, it is again the creation of yet again another huge government entitlement program. How is she going to pay for this? Again: taxing the rich. Every proposal she has come up with in this campaign is going to be paid for by either repealing tax cuts for "the wealthy" or by creating a new tax on "the wealthy." Frankly, it won't pay to try to achieve any form of success in Madam Hillary's America. Try to get ahead, and a punitive tax will be placed on you to drive you down into grinding poverty for daring of thinking you could accumulate wealth or reach for the stars. What did you think this country is after all? A Capitalist country?! Folks, there is a reason you are seeing those bumper stickers out there with a red slash through Hillary's face, and the phrase "Re-defeat Communism in 2008." She truly embraces Marxism in her heart. I know many think calling someone a communist is counter-productive, but friends, if you listen to what she says, what she wants to do, and how she plans to do it, you can come to no other conclusion. She believes in big government controlling just about everything. It is a pity that the younger generation who will be voting in '08 will be so unaware of the evil brought down on humanity by the theories of Marx and Lenin. They may learn the hard way if Hillary wins in November of  '08.
Sadly, the Socialist leaning politicians get away with this stuff due to a huge streak of class envy and leftist indoctrination that starts early in childhood, especially in the Government run schools. You tell some people you are going tax the rich and they are delighted. Never mind that it does not benefit them in any way. They just like to think the affluent are suffering. The rich are the left's favorite whipping boy, but the sad truth is you can take all the money of the wealthy, and it could run the US Government for all of a few days. The reality is that the well-off are the folks who make the investments and create the employment for millions in this nation. In the meantime, Hillary would confiscate and fritter away any money that could have been used on business expansion and new jobs, which might have created new revenue for the insatiable appetite of the beast in Washington.
Along with her new slate of ''bankrupt America'' programs being laid before us, we have been getting other hints of what a Hillary Clinton Presidency would look like. Clearly we will have convicted felons in high office. How do we know this? The disgraced felon, Sandy Berger, AKA ''Sandy Burglar,'' has been given a role in Hillary's campaign. He is an advisor to Madam Hillary on foreign policy issues. For the record, Sandy Berger was convicted of stealing classified documents from the National Archives. Prior to testifying to the 9/11 Commission, Mr. Berger was permitted into the National Archives to review Clinton era documents. Apparently he was embarrassed by what he found. He then began stuffing the classified papers down his pants, in his socks and underwear. Some of it he took outside and hid under a construction trailer. He then went back for more. This went on for days. Luckily, Archives staff caught him in the act of stealing the papers. First he lied and claimed it was an accident that he took documents home. Then he claimed it was a sloppy mistake that some of the papers were destroyed at his home. He was convicted and slapped with a minor fine, and his security clearance was revoked until 2008. How convenient for him that the security clearance issue will be resolved in time for a Hillary presidency. It was a truly a miscarriage of justice that someone who stole and destroyed classified documents was hit with such a paltry penalty. I would truly like to know what he was trying to keep the 9/11 Commission and the rest of us from seeing. Some of the documents were copies, and we know what was on them. However, the handwritten comments from Clinton White House staff on them were obviously part of what he wanted to hide. Sadly, an entire box of documents that had not been cataloged, their contents thus unknown, were also pilfered and destroyed. The man should be serving hard time. But for going in the National Archives and committing a crime to protect Bill Clinton's legacy, he has been rewarded with this campaign post, which will undoubtedly translate into a high-level position in a Hillary administration.
Frankly, I think this is just another of a plethora of signals that if Hillary wins we can expect shady ethics, corruption, and all the other wonderful scandals we had from January 20, 1993 until January 20, 2001. Even on their last day, the Clintonistas stole White House property and pried the W's off the keyboards of US Government computers.
The other top contenders in the Democrat field are making little news these days. With every new Hillary proposal, John Edwards comes out and says it was his idea first or he will do just as much if not more. Then he goes back to primping his hair. Frankly I think John is just sticking around for the Federal matching funds at this point. The National press is ignoring New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. His chances are nil in my estimation.
Barack Obama's latest news bite of note is how he now refuses to wear the American flag pin on his coat. He says the flag symbolizes the war. I think that vapid comment says much about him. He still is considered a strong candidate but is in a rapid spiral downward in the polls. For the moment, it appears to be Hillary's race to lose. Barack may refuse to wear the flag, but Hillary will desecrate it. I still contend that any of the Republicans vying for the Oval Office is a much better choice than anything the Democrats are offering the American people. So lets focus on defeating the liberals and their dangerous policies in 2008. In the mean time, I shall continue to watch the developing storm and keep you informed on this page.
