Political Theater and Crocodile Tears
It has been interesting watching the results from Iowa and New Hampshire. As I have pretty much made up my mind about the Republican field, I have not paid much attention to the tussle on the right. The battle to be top dog on the left, however, has been rather entertaining.
.
To the utter dismay of "She who must be obeyed" (aka Hillary Clinton), Barack Obama won the Iowa Caucus. The day after Iowa had rendered its verdict, Hillary was campaigning in New Hampshire. All questions about her defeat from the press were responded to with catty digs and veiled disdain for the folks of Iowa by Mrs. Rodham-Clinton. However, the Clintons had no intention of letting history repeat itself and all the stops were pulled out in the Granite State. At one event while Hillary was speaking she was heckled by a group of men shouting, "Iron my shirt," over and over again. Hillary smiled and the response sounded scripted by Hollywood. "Ah, the remnants of sexism," she said. Funny thing is, I did not see security rush these men and get them out. I certainly did not hear any of them yell, "Don't tase me bro!" Afterwards you would think we would have learned the details about these men. After all, had they been arrested there would have been a flood of information about them. When the publicity-seeking University of Florida punk got "tasered" for harassing John Kerry, and uttering that now famous quote from above, we got more information on him than my doctor gets on me when I go in for a physical. Yet these guys disappeared into the woods of New Hampshire. Political operatives for the Clintons? I suspect so.
.
The real over-the-top performance, however, was Hillary and her crocodile tears. The now infamous incident happened after a sympathetic female supporter asked her how she was keeping up with the grueling campaign schedule. Hillary responded, "It's not easy. It's not easy. And I couldn't do it if I just didn't, you know, passionately believe it was the right thing to do." At this point the emotional crackle in the voice begins and a hint of the eyes welling starts. "You know, I've had so many opportunities from this country, I just don't want to see us fall backwards."
.
She takes a breath as the crowd cheers and then continues.
.
"So, you know, this is very personal for me. It's not just political. It's not just public. I see what's happening, and we have to reverse it. And some people think elections are a game. They think it's like who's up or who's down. It's about our country. It's about our kids' futures. It's really about all of us together. You know some of us put ourselves out there and do this against some pretty difficult odds. And we do it, each one of us, because we care about our country. But some of us are right and some of us are wrong. Some of us are ready and some of us are not, and so when we look at the array of problems we have and the potential for it getting - really spinning out of control, this is one of the most important elections America's ever faced. So as tired as I am--and I am--and as difficult as it is to try to kind of keep up with what I try to do on the road like occasionally exercise and try to eat right--it's tough when the easiest food is pizza--I just believe so strongly in who we are as a nation so I'm going to do everything I can to make my case and, you know, then the voters get to decide."

The sad thing is that these two feats worked as planned. Exit polls found that many women and some men were swayed by these two political stunts.  Quite a few essentially said, "I was going to vote for Obama but then I saw Hillary cry."
.
For crying out loud, give me a break! It is folks like this that truly add weight to Neal Boortz's argument about how idiots should not be allowed to vote. Today those who suck at the government teet just keep re-electing those that will keep the milk flowing to them.  And now we see moves by some lawmakers to grant illegal aliens the right to vote? God help us. The fact these liberal ladies and "girly men" will let such a shallow and frivolous emotional display sway the future of our nation in time of war truly disturbs me.
.
I can just imagine what our enemies overseas think, seeing the potential next President of the United States break down in tears like this. I am sure Osama bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and the pot-bellied, dog-eating dictator of North Korea, Kim Jung Il, were all very impressed. You can imagine what they think she would do in a real crisis.
.
I was very disappointed by this and I am stunned by the number of people who really thought this was genuine emotion coming from a woman with ice water in her veins. Moreover, Hillary is not the only one who can turn on the tears. I hope most of our readers will remember the footage of then President Bill Clinton walking with friend Tony Campello during the Ron Brown funeral coverage. Bill and Tony are yucking it up, laughing and red-faced and then Bill Clinton locks eyes with a camera. In one step he went from laughing to sobbing, while his hapless friend wondered what the heck happened. Those tears would have been most impressive to some, had the previous seconds not been caught on film.
.
For those too young to remember here is the footage.

.
With Hillary, I am sure it is much the same. The tears are a vote-getting device rather than a real display of emotion.  Did she cry during Bill's impeachment, or during questions about Monica Lewinsky, Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones or the allegations that Bill raped Juanita Broderick? No, she sat stone-faced through all that.
.
I will concede there is a small chance, a very small chance, that there was real feeling in those tears. But if the emotion was authentic in anyway, then it was self-pity from the woman who assumes we are to hand her the presidency and she saw it slipping away. As she sees it, she is the anointed one, no ifs, ands, or buts. It is hers, and she can't believe this upstart (Obama) is spoiling her coronation. She views herself as the bride marrying the nation and how dare anyone else stand up and say, "Yeah, I got a reason the United States should not wed her." In her mind it is all about Hillary, and we best not forget that.
.
I hope the American people will wake up soon to the disaster a Hillary White House would be. Make sure your voter registration is up to date my friends. The moment to save the country is coming soon. The Hillary Express may well roll into Washington if we all do not do our part to derail it. But it is up to each and every one of us to do our part in yanking out those spikes.
